blike Posted June 29, 2004 Posted June 29, 2004 In case you guys hadn't noticed, you can rate each thread by clicking "Rate Thread" at the top of each one.
YT2095 Posted June 29, 2004 Posted June 29, 2004 what is it`s function? (I`m a hesitant Clicker if I don`t know what I`m doing)
Sayonara Posted June 29, 2004 Posted June 29, 2004 You can order threads in a forum by thread rating (or any column in fact) by clicking on the heading.
YT2095 Posted June 29, 2004 Posted June 29, 2004 for experimental purposes, I`ve rated this thread as "Terrible" LOL other than a suspension of duties, what can I expect as a noticable result of such a rating?
blike Posted June 29, 2004 Author Posted June 29, 2004 lol nothing. It's just a rough indicator of the thread's quality. 5 stars = teh goodness. If enough people start rating threads, people can sort by rating and wade through the crap.
Dave Posted June 29, 2004 Posted June 29, 2004 I suppose if people rate the threads, when we get more visitors it'll make it easier to see the quality threads.
YT2095 Posted June 29, 2004 Posted June 29, 2004 got ya, well when I get more time, I`ll go on a "Rating and Raving" session, beats Ranting the "Official Jokes Section" has to score some points! btw, can you rate it twice?
YT2095 Posted June 29, 2004 Posted June 29, 2004 what`s "fair" got to do with it, the Jokes section ROCKS! ))
Sayonara Posted June 29, 2004 Posted June 29, 2004 If it's not done in a uniform fashion, it defeats the purpose of doing it at all.
jordan Posted June 29, 2004 Posted June 29, 2004 So the goal is to rate them after they've died down? Otherwise, what coudl you do if the thread starts out bad but gets good, or, more likely, the other way around: started good but quickly got bad?
Sayonara Posted June 29, 2004 Posted June 29, 2004 Afaik you can rate again, but you don't get "two votes" - it changes the vote you originally cast.
jordan Posted June 29, 2004 Posted June 29, 2004 That sounds good then. I'll try to start using it a bit.
YT2095 Posted June 29, 2004 Posted June 29, 2004 it would be interesting (although I don`t know HOW it would be represented) to be able to rate a thread at junctures, that way you can see that a thread was going just great until such and such a post, and declined from that point onwards (as seems to be the case with some sadly).
