dg2008 Posted October 9, 2009 Posted October 9, 2009 volume x density so I have 5.0x10^-4 km^3 as the volume and 1x10^12 kg km^-3 as density but I'm confused about the measurements for each. Does it become kg km?
Sisyphus Posted October 9, 2009 Posted October 9, 2009 Multiplying those units together would just give you kg. km^3 cancels out km^-3. Always remember the "does this answer make sense" test: density X volume = mass. So if all your units are correct, you will end up with an answer in units of mass. How did you end up with kg km?
dg2008 Posted October 9, 2009 Author Posted October 9, 2009 by converting 1x10^3 kg m^-3 to km. see attachment. then 1x10^3 kg / 1×10^-9 km^3
