dr.syntax Posted October 16, 2009 Posted October 16, 2009 The thread titled: The Technological Singularity: all but inevitable ? now has all postings from all people responding to the different people posting all merged together so that no one is sure of who they are even responding to anymore. This is not the usual practice here in this forum. Will someone please correct this. Thank You, Dr.Syntax

This is not the usual practice here in this forum. Will someone please correct this. Thank You, Dr.Syntax Hi DS, I'm unsure that I'm clear on what the issue here is. Are you referring to the way the forum software merges multiple consecutive posts? Like this... Watch... I'll submit another post immediately after this one. Merged post follows: Consecutive posts mergedAs promised... Here is my next post. It is a new contribution, but to save on space and limit the craziness of multiple posts from the same person, the forum merges consecutive posts together. Merged post follows: Consecutive posts mergedNow, if you're concerned about people not understanding what you are responding to, you can just quote the relevant bit like this: This is not the usual practice here in this forum. Will someone please correct this. Thank You, Dr.Syntax Are you sure? What exactly do you wish to see corrected?
dr.syntax Posted October 16, 2009 Author Posted October 16, 2009 There is a problem in the thread titled: The Technological Singularity: all but inevitable . Any postings from anyone responding to anyone are now being merged together at the bottom of the thread. This makes it all very confusing and difficult for any poster to respond to any other poster. It is all one merged mess at the end of the thread. Please, someone correct this. ...Dr.Syntax
insane_alien Posted October 16, 2009 Posted October 16, 2009 post only get merged when a user makes multiple consecutive posts. the only difference it makes is that the thread is slightly shorter in length as it isn't required to render so many message boxes. this has been a feature of the forums since before you arrived and was implemented for a very good reason, multiple consecutive postings are annoying and disrupt thread flow. it isn't hard to post a reply in the one post. you should try it sometime.
mooeypoo Posted October 17, 2009 Posted October 17, 2009 This is a dupe thread. It is indeed, thank you. Duplicate threads merged. dr.syntax, if you think there's a problem, reporting it once is enough. If you think we didn't notice, report the problem-post by clicking the triangular "report" icon and sending the moderators a message. ~moo
