prashanthnb Posted October 26, 2009 Posted October 26, 2009 Hi all, I am looking for any material (mainly books) on String theory/Brane theory. Any idea where i can get them? Books with mathematical expressions and equations are better... Thanks in advance..
RyanJ Posted October 26, 2009 Posted October 26, 2009 Well. As far as books go you can't go wrong with Brian Greene's books called "The Fabric of the Cosmos" (ISBN-13: 978-0141011110) and "The Elegant Universe" (ISBN-13: 978-0393058581). Those should be a good start as long as you're not interested in anything too technical.

All of the books above I have used and can personally recommend, but remember there are plenty of other books out there.
Severian Posted October 27, 2009 Posted October 27, 2009 These lectures by Angel Uranga are pretty good (and free!)
ajb Posted October 27, 2009 Posted October 27, 2009 I must also point you to 1) The official string theory website. 2) String Theory Wiki. 3) Spires HEP reviews of String Theory. DrRocket Posted August 21, 2011 Posted August 21, 2011 (edited) Hi all, I am looking for any material (mainly books) on String theory/Brane theory. Any idea where i can get them? Books with mathematical expressions and equations are better... Thanks in advance.. String Theory and M-Theory: A Modern Introduction by Becker, Becker and Schwarz Superstring Theory by Green, Schwarz and Witten (2 vols) Edited August 21, 2011 by DrRocket
ajb Posted August 22, 2011 Posted August 22, 2011 Superstring Theory by Green, Schwarz and Witten (2 vols) The old testament of string theory. This predates the 1995 second string revolution which hailed in a new era of M-branes. However, it is still used and is very useful book.
