does anyone know how to measure the earth's magnetic field at a particular location? how about a reporting source where I could look it up?

do you want to measure the geomagnetic field at your location?

or would you rather just look up what it is, and not have to measure it?

if you just want to look it up in a table, then what is your location or

what is your latitude/longitude (there should be some table---I wouldnt mind knowing too)

the saa (south atlantic anomaly) is pretty interesting. it is a big dip in the magnetic field of the earth.

martin - i would rather just look it up, but it would have come from some place recognized as an official reporting source.

What is the purpose of measuring the earth's magnetic field at a particular local??? just curious.......mikeyboy :)

sting - I have an upcoming test for "magnetic effect" when an electrical device is operated. In order to accurately gage the result, you have to know the "background" magnetic effect due to the earth.

Be sure to get a good detector, because the electric device probably won't make much of a difference. What device are you plugging in for the test?
