devrimci_kürt Posted November 15, 2009 Posted November 15, 2009 Is there an implicit age limit for mathematical productivity?
ajb Posted November 15, 2009 Posted November 15, 2009 No, but it does seem to be true that most people do their best work early on in their career. Generally, a mathematician will have one or two good ideas and a few techniques they really master. Then they push and apply these as much as possible.
DJBruce Posted November 16, 2009 Posted November 16, 2009 I am not really sure about when a person is most productive in mathematics. However, if you ever want to win a Fields Medal you better be productive before you are forty.
