Justonium Posted November 21, 2009 Posted November 21, 2009 BOMBS ARE DANGEROUS. Alright, if you've ever wondered if you can make a bomb with sugar, yes you can! I just made one and it was pretty good. It sounded like a gunshot, and the tin it was in didn't land for a while after the explosion. For anybody who is interested, here's my mix: 35% sugar, 63% potassium nitrate, and 2% red iron oxide. I have never heard of anybody else using this as an explosive, but, sure enough, it worked! Far cheaper than making black powder (not to mention much easier to obtain the ingredients and make). Just putting this information out there for people to use. I have purposefully left out how to make a bomb with this formula, so if you don't know how to do that, then you shouldn't be making one! Oh, this might also work without the iron oxide, but it will be much less reliable, as the ignition temperature is much higher, and the pressure at which a runaway reaction occurs will be so high it might not be obtained in many setups. -1

Presetting an incredibly dangerous chemical reaction with "bombs are dangerous" and then continuing to demonstrate a method that will likely get others severely hurt or killed is not good enough. The readers are encouraged to avoid dealing or meddling with chemical reaction that may result in physical harm, like the one above. These type of chemical experiments should be done carefully, in a proper lab, under the proper safety measures and should never be attempted at home.
