Guest tioung Posted July 15, 2004 Posted July 15, 2004 Hi, I'm confused there! ADSL and N-ISDN use extra frequency bands for more capacity, right? BUT, they are still analogue like dial-up? Am I right? David
mossoi Posted July 15, 2004 Posted July 15, 2004 N-ISDN = Narrowband Integrated Services Digital Network ADSL = Asymmetric Digital Subscriber Line Both digital not analogue hence the better speeds as data does not have to be converted into an analogue signal at either end as with dial up.
Guest tioung Posted July 16, 2004 Posted July 16, 2004 dial-up uses a cut-off frequency band of 3000 Hz which canot transmit digital while adsl uses higher frequency bands which can. Is that right?

Yeah sort off! 3000 hz won't fit much information! And u get much disturbance and effects in that area too! So higher frequencies are more suitable and can cary more info! If i'm not totally mistaken
