nitrix Posted December 8, 2009 Posted December 8, 2009 Hello, can I purify the potassium nitrate from this fertilizer? 14-5-38 nitrogen(N): 14% phosphate(P2O5): 5% potash (K2O): 38% Boron: 0,014% chelated copper: 0,011% chelated iron: 0,07% chelated manganese: 0,035% molybdenum: 0,007% chelated zinc: 0,035% Chelating agent (ethylene damine tetraacetate): 1% Thanks.
Mr Skeptic Posted December 9, 2009 Posted December 9, 2009 Probably because the government keeps track of people who buy nitrates (and also people who buy fertilizer).
zombieSquirrel Posted December 9, 2009 Posted December 9, 2009 ....? Why do you want to know? Do you want to obtain some potassium nitrate discretely, or are you just curious? It's perfectly legal to buy (at least where I live, anyway), though it can get the government's attention, because it could be used in making explosives. I could order some on the web or go to a drug store to buy some, no problem.
nitrix Posted December 9, 2009 Author Posted December 9, 2009 it's legal in my country to buy potassium nitrate, and yes it's easy to find. I would just like to know if this fertilizer can be purified, because it contains soluble phosphate.
hermanntrude Posted December 9, 2009 Posted December 9, 2009 I expect it can, although it'd be hard work. I still don't understand why you want to spend the time purifying potassium nitrate when you could just go out and buy it
