Guest roberton Posted July 20, 2004 Posted July 20, 2004 Has anyone built ultrasonic weapons like the ones at The Free Information Society under the electronics section? They look really cool and can supposedly cause feelings of nausea and even vomiting
JaKiri Posted July 20, 2004 Posted July 20, 2004 There's been talk about using them to suppress football hooligans.
bloodhound Posted July 20, 2004 Posted July 20, 2004 i am not sure if they were gonna use ultra sonic to do that. more like ultra sub sonic.. really really high wavelenghts. makes u feel quesy, and can induce nausea.
YT2095 Posted July 21, 2004 Posted July 21, 2004 I`ve experimented with infrasonics and vortex lenses, they can also cause feelings of nausea and unrest, but I wouldn`t go so far as to call the stuff I used a "weapon" more of a scientific curiosity experiment, some interesting effects though, especialy with sympathetic resonance over a distance
bloodhound Posted July 21, 2004 Posted July 21, 2004 they seem like a good way to restrain large number of ppple though
Dave Posted July 22, 2004 Posted July 22, 2004 There was some experimentation with ultra-low frequences as a method of crowd-control; finding the resonating frequency of the stomach and hence making people very ill. If I remember correctly, the only problem was that it tended to kill people because the resonating frequency of the heart was very similar.
Tesseract Posted July 22, 2004 Posted July 22, 2004 I would think this would be good for protests or as a method of execution.
bloodhound Posted July 22, 2004 Posted July 22, 2004 probably quite painful, cos it causes the heart to vibrate rapidly and explode inside the chest with such force that it cracks the rib cage apart.
Tesseract Posted July 22, 2004 Posted July 22, 2004 probably quite painful, cos it causes the heart to vibrate rapidly and explode inside the chest with such force that it cracks the rib cage apart. Definitely a terrorist weapon.Anyone know the range of such a weapon?
Cap'n Refsmmat Posted July 22, 2004 Posted July 22, 2004 Read this article. Lots more nonleathal weapons. My favorite is the "Pain beam". Much better than one that might kill people by exploding their hearts.

Dave Posted July 22, 2004 Posted July 22, 2004 Definitely a terrorist weapon.Anyone know the range of such a weapon? Depends on the size of the speaker/poweramp you get. And a bomb with a load of shrapnel is much more effective.
YT2095 Posted July 22, 2004 Posted July 22, 2004 your idea of a "bomb" isn`t a bad one, there`s no reason at all that such a device MUST be electricaly powered, I can hear a baritone tuba quite well and loud, it could be quite possible to contain a small explosion, and use the gasses through a resonator to great effect! just an idea
bloodhound Posted July 22, 2004 Posted July 22, 2004 i heard that if u fill a water tight metal compartment with water, and seal it , so that it has only water init. then you cool it down below freezing temp. the metal box will explode with ferocious power. is that true?
Phi for All Posted July 22, 2004 Posted July 22, 2004 i heard that if u fill a water tight metal compartment with water, and seal it , so that it has only water init. then you cool it down below freezing temp. the metal box will explode with ferocious power. is that true?I suppose it would if you could freeze it instantly. The water would expand as it freezes because water molecules in crystals take up more space than they do in liquid form. The box wouldn't be able to contain it and would break apart. How violently would depend on how quickly the water was frozen. If you froze it gradually the box would break apart gradually.
YT2095 Posted July 23, 2004 Posted July 23, 2004 there are several different types of ice latice structure though, so you may just end up making Ice 2 or ice 3 as a result and no explosion.
MolecularMan14 Posted July 25, 2004 Posted July 25, 2004 there are several different types of ice latice structure though, so you may just end up making Ice 2 or ice 3 as a result and no explosion. Wait, what exactly is Ice 2 /ice 3???
bloodhound Posted July 25, 2004 Posted July 25, 2004 different versions of the latest ATI graphics cards.
Tesseract Posted July 25, 2004 Posted July 25, 2004 different versions of the latest ATI graphics cards. What?I thought the new ones are the X800 technology,or the 9800.
bloodhound Posted July 25, 2004 Posted July 25, 2004 yes it is. i should have mentioned i was referring to the latest release from one of the vendors. read all about it http://www20.graphics.tomshardware.com/graphic/20040723/index.html
