What is it about a fireworks display especially the Loud booms that has always intreaged man since the discovery of blackpowder 2000yrs ago? What

is the reason we get a thrill when we here an explosion

because in the past loud noises usually meant something was going down that we should really pay attention to because we might need to run and hide from it.

 

you know like a tree falling, an elephant approacing etc.

 

thus when we hear bangs, our inbuilt defence mechanisms give us a nice jolt of adrenaline to increase our alertness.
