Rakdos Posted July 26, 2004 Posted July 26, 2004 go crusie porn sites u will find a virius out there somewhere but i dont know of a web site like that
LuTze Posted July 26, 2004 Posted July 26, 2004 You don't need an actual virus to test it's working, you can use the standard EICAR test virus. See http://www.eicar.org/anti_virus_test_file.htm
bloodhound Posted July 26, 2004 Author Posted July 26, 2004 yay, passed it. are there others like this?
bloodhound Posted July 26, 2004 Author Posted July 26, 2004 i found another page which lists more downloads i.e the same .com file in various archives. Kaspersky doesnt seem to detect it in the password protected zip file. i wonder if other AV detects that
5614 Posted July 26, 2004 Posted July 26, 2004 yay, i know sum1 did this earlier but norton passed again! it wouldnt let me download the first two, but would let me get the *.zip files, however i could unzip the files coz norton AV stopped me ppl say norton isnt very good..... why? what the best.... preferrably free!
Sayonara Posted July 26, 2004 Posted July 26, 2004 Read the other threads on antivirus software, where those exact questions were asked by other people.

bloodhound Posted July 26, 2004 Author Posted July 26, 2004 there is nothing in that thread that tells you how u can test ur anti virus for detection reates
5614 Posted July 26, 2004 Posted July 26, 2004 oh soz, i thought you wanted to see other av progs, you want other ways to test, i think..... u said ealier in the thread urself, that u found other sites with the same files, other than that i dont know.... soz is my norton vulnerable to attack through hackers and viruses, you lot are all against norton, ok, but am i actually vulnerable?
Sayonara Posted July 26, 2004 Posted July 26, 2004 i cant find the thread?? can u gimme a link I was replying to the last line of 5614's post.
5614 Posted August 18, 2004 Posted August 18, 2004 norton internet security has a good way to test how good it is, and also throws in a free av test at the same time.... go to the norton firewall main page thing, when u load it up, from the icon in the system tray, click security, and then in the blue panel thing on the right, click 'check security' if you dont have norton firewall/av, you could still try their site; http://security.symantec.com/ssc/home.asp?j=1&langid=ie&venid=symnis2003&plfid=23&pkj=MFTFIVNTZPZRNQJQFRD should work, if not, go to: http://www.symantec.com/ and click, i cant find the link! just scan round the site, its there somewhere!
