Deadmeat Posted February 11, 2010 Posted February 11, 2010 I'm writing a project (due monday) and I need some help about the process of how the ozone layer absorbs UV light. I really need help on this. Oh, and I need at least one method to prevent the loss of the ozone layer.
Mad Scientist Posted February 17, 2010 Posted February 17, 2010 Basically ozone is split up when it absorbs UV radiation form the sun. It is created when UV rays hit O2 molecules creating O atoms. Thes O atoms join with O2 molecules to create Ozone (O3). There is a full explanation of this on wkipedia - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ozone_layer Hope it helps.
