Leison Posted July 29, 2004 Posted July 29, 2004 i heard that einstein's brain was used upto 16/17 %. and normal peoplr use less than 1% of their brain. is this true ? how is the brain usage measured?
Sayonara Posted July 29, 2004 Posted July 29, 2004 No it is not true. Search forums for the several threads on this.
Leison Posted July 29, 2004 Author Posted July 29, 2004 i also heard that his brain is still preserved in some museum and a study is going on his intelligence
LucidDreamer Posted July 29, 2004 Posted July 29, 2004 The whole thing about using 1% or 5% of your brain is a total fallacy. NMR scans and encephalograms confirm this. I think the most interesting thing about Einstein's brain is that they found his brain had more glial cells. Up until very recently it was thought that glial cells had a very minor role in brain functioning, as sort of a support system. Recent evidence indicates that glial cells play a much more important role. The fact that Einstein had more glial cells wasn't given much thought before, but I imagine it will be reexamined now.
Cap'n Refsmmat Posted July 29, 2004 Posted July 29, 2004 i heard that einstein's brain was used upto 16/17 %. and normal peoplr use less than 1% of their brain. is this true ? how is the brain usage measured? Whoever you heard this from, shoot them.
Leison Posted July 31, 2004 Author Posted July 31, 2004 Actually i heard it from my genius Physic teacher.
LucidDreamer Posted July 31, 2004 Posted July 31, 2004 That's interesting that anyone that educated would say that. Ask him why he thinks that and repost.
Lance Posted July 31, 2004 Posted July 31, 2004 Be sure to shoot him after you ask him, not the other way around.
Leison Posted August 1, 2004 Author Posted August 1, 2004 That's interesting that anyone that educated would say that. Ask him why he thinks that and repost. Unfortunately i can't ask him coz he has left the college. He's goin to US for further study in Physics.
Leison Posted August 1, 2004 Author Posted August 1, 2004 ANd have u come across any "einstein's puzzle"? einstein had said that only2% of the world's popn can solve it. I don't think that puzzle is too hard.
Sayonara Posted August 1, 2004 Posted August 1, 2004 2% of the world's population is a lot of people.
Leison Posted August 2, 2004 Author Posted August 2, 2004 he had said that "only 2% of the world's intelligent popn" but i think he was wrong "only 2% of the world's popn couldn't solve it" i mean it's (too) easy than i thought have u tried it?
Leison Posted August 2, 2004 Author Posted August 2, 2004 if not here it is : EINSTEIN'S CHALLENGE There are five houses in five different colors. In each house lives a person of a different nationality. These five owners drink a certain beverage, smoke a certain brand of cigarette and keep a certain pet. No owners have the same pet, smoke the same brand of smoke or drink. HINTS The Brit lives in the red house. The Swede keeps dogs as pets. The Dane drinks tea. The green house is on the left of the white house. The green house owner drinks coffee. The person who smokes Pall Mall rears birds. The owner of the yellow house smokes Dunhill. The man living in the house right in the center drinks milk. The Norwegian lives in the first house. The man who smokes Blend lives next to the one who keeps cats. The man who keeps horses lives next to the man who smokes Dunhill. The owner who smokes Blue Master drinks beer. The German smokes Prince. The Norwegian lives next to the blue house. The man who smokes Blend has a neighbour who drinks water. The question is: WHO OWNS FISH?
Sayonara Posted August 2, 2004 Posted August 2, 2004 Never heard of it, and I can't see how he'd know who could or could not solve a puzzle. Do you have a link to it?
brave_new_world Posted August 6, 2004 Posted August 6, 2004 This site shows the solution in steps. http://www.greylabyrinth.com/puzzles/puzzle.php?puzzle_id=puzzle084 That was a fun puzzle Leison, but the myth that only 2% of the population can solve it is dumb. As pointed out above there is no way to estimate that statistic.
atinymonkey Posted August 6, 2004 Posted August 6, 2004 I agree about the 2% idea being wrong. I was on a management training course where that was an exercise to complete. The people on were not smart cookies, and they managed it.
jordan Posted August 6, 2004 Posted August 6, 2004 Perhaps if there was some kind of time limit on it, then maybe. But anyone with enough time (almost anyone, that is) can work through it.
Leison Posted August 8, 2004 Author Posted August 8, 2004 i solved it in school within abt 40 mins while the teacher was giving lecture. i was in back bench so he didnt notice me solving the puzzle. i didnt find it too much difficult.
