I was wondering if nanotechnology, mainly nanorobots, could have some very big potential in the future.

Specifically, could they someday, or at least potentially be able to rearrange matter into incredibly strong yet light materials just by breaking up other matter. I know can produce carbon nanotubes and such but I mean actual nanorobots taking apart something and reconstructing something completely new from it.

Where would the limits be on such? (not obviously limitless, but pretty close)
