apricimo Posted February 25, 2010 Posted February 25, 2010 Can anyone tell me what T2g means. T is triply degenerate and g is "even" so what is 2? Also, what do the numbers in A1 and B1 and B2 mean. Also what do the letter stand for? If T is for triply degenerate then what does E for if it means doubly degenerate as doubly clearly doesn't start with e. ChemSiddiqui Posted March 5, 2010 Posted March 5, 2010 Hi there, try group theory. A good book for this is in introduction to molecular symmetry and group theory by A.vincent. It should answer most of your questions above, or simply punch group theory into google. good luck.
