In the little time that I have made posts skye (and others) has taught me to double and triple check my posts. Thanks for the checking up on me I shall learn to check on my own from know on. Sorry still a little rusty

The probability of receiving two recessive alleles would be the probability of receiving one squared. Eg., if the probability to receive a particular allele was 0.01 (one in a hundred) then to receive two of these alleles it would be 0.01 x 0.01 = 0.0001 (one in ten thousand).

 

This is from a population genetic point of veiw, can you do the calculations again if you knew the frequency of alleles in the two parents, I think he'd be a little closer...... Im a bit to inebriated and rusty on the subject to do it myself... at a quick guess 3:1....

Well there's not going to be a single relationship in that case, it will depend on what alleles the parents have. If neither of them have the defective allele, then all the kids are safe.
