quantum125 Posted March 14, 2010 Posted March 14, 2010 dont rely have a great understanding of the topic... one of the things that are discrediting the big bang theory is dark energy which as far as i know has not been detected.... were it shows that there is not enough gravity in the universe for their to be organised structures in galaxies and the univers so this dark matter acts as an extra amount of gravity that keeps order... but if all objects have no fixed positions and can be in more than one place at one time on an atomic level would this amplify the affect of normal gravity. could any one fill me in abit more.
timo Posted March 14, 2010 Posted March 14, 2010 a) Dark Energy and Dark Matter are two different concepts; the one resembling matter is, unsurprisingly, dark matter. b) If an object could be at two places at a time on an atomic level then you would probably measure this effect on every scale that you can measure gravity on. So the effect of "an object being at two positions at a time", assuming it exists, should already be contained in the constant of gravitation, then. In short: That shouldn't change anything. c) Please try to communicate in complete sentences with proper capitalization. The little time taken to put what looks like brainstorming into a consistent form not only increases the readability of the thread (and in effect the quality of it) but also is a sign of realizing that others spend their time trying to help you. 2
quantum125 Posted March 15, 2010 Author Posted March 15, 2010 (edited) thank you for the response. appreciated. just to gain bit more understanding. a plain taking of from the ground and setting of for a location is that plain suspended in away until the earth has rotated underneath it and the correct location arrives and the plain lands or is it when the plain is stationary on the ground is travelling at the same speed of the rotation of the earth but when taking of is travelling at the speed of the earth plus it velocity therefore being able to travel quicker then the rotation. Radical Edward Posted March 15, 2010 Posted March 15, 2010 dont rely have a great understanding of the topic... one of the things that are discrediting the big bang theory is dark energy which as far as i know has not been detected.... were it shows that there is not enough gravity in the universe for their to be organised structures in galaxies and the univers so this dark matter acts as an extra amount of gravity that keeps order... but if all objects have no fixed positions and can be in more than one place at one time on an atomic level would this amplify the affect of normal gravity. could any one fill me in abit more. The main elements of the big bang theory; that the whole universe was extremely small about 13.7 billion years ago, expanded rapidly, and has been expanding since, is pretty much as certain as we can be certain of things. There are questions of course, relating to the structures of the universe and other things like why is everything matter... when we would expect a 50:50 matter antimatter split, how much mass was there in the original universe, what is the ultimate fate of the universe, and is there a cosmological constant. Dark matter and Dark energy go some way to explaining some of those questions. Dark Matter was really first hypothesized from galaxy rotation curves. When we look at the orbital velocity of objects, their velocity decreases as their orbit gets larger (so Jupiter orbits more slowly than the earth). For the galaxies it is a little more complex as the matter is dispersed, but once we get away from the core we expect the velocity to drop off like with planets, but oddly it doesn't: A is the expected velocity with distance, and B is the measured velocity. That means there is a load of mass there that we can't see.
