Lanai Elbourne Posted March 17, 2010 Posted March 17, 2010 I have a anthracene with a Br on the 3 and OMe on 10. I know me stands for methyl. What do you call it with an Oxygen attached. Am I on the right path in naming this 3-bromo-10methlyoxianthracene
UC Posted March 17, 2010 Posted March 17, 2010 The word you're looking for is methoxy. However, you're going to want to look at your numbering again, unless there are other substituents you didn't mention. There's a way to name that with lower numbers, which is always preferable.
