distilling potatos

how would i distill potatos to make vodka? would i just put them in the distilling flask with some ethynol or something? We are using the distillation stuff in chemistry, and the teacher said bring anything in to distill :P Anyone know anything exciting to distill :P

you can`t distil potatoes LOL :))

you`ll end up with plain water and a black mess where the spubs used to be!

 

you have to ferment the spuds 1`st, to make your mash, and then distil THAT! :)

 

 

and BTW, Vodka`s made from Grain, Poteen is made from potatoes :)

You can distill just about anything that has been fermented (believe me, we Finns have a looong history with that :) ). Fruits, potatoes, all kinds of stuff. Cherries and grapes are a good choice. Remember: Distill it thrice, and it will taste nice. :D By the way, the record of percents of commercially sold alcohol is held by Estonia (surprise surprise). They sold 98% distilled from potatoes in the 20's or something.
