pulkit Posted August 8, 2004 Posted August 8, 2004 Wow ! To what, extremes suspicion and revenge take some people !!
Dave Posted August 8, 2004 Posted August 8, 2004 [url']http://www.cnn.com/2004/US/South/08/08/bodies.found/index.html[/url] This is completely silly.
bloodhound Posted August 8, 2004 Posted August 8, 2004 i havent read the article. so i will say nothing except that xbox is overhyped. it may have the lead in processing power against PS2 but it still doesnt have the userbase and the wide spread of games available as there is for PS2. i personally dont own any game consoles. prefer my computer for FPS as i find the keyboard mouse combo much more preferable than a gamepad. was playing halo on my mates xbox and was completely useless at it.
ydoaPs Posted August 8, 2004 Author Posted August 8, 2004 bloodhound, u r always completely useless. lolly roffles
-Demosthenes- Posted August 9, 2004 Posted August 9, 2004 If the xbox had my Halo game in it when it was stolen then there would be some problems.
ydoaPs Posted August 9, 2004 Author Posted August 9, 2004 i guess u got a point, but i have it for pc
Cap'n Refsmmat Posted August 9, 2004 Posted August 9, 2004 Now, if someone stole my PC, then I'd be REALLY mad. I wouldn't be able to use scienceforums! But back to the original story: Don't you think people are really stupid nowadays? It's just an x-box, it's not worth 6 peoples lives. Anger management, anyone?
admiral_ju00 Posted August 9, 2004 Posted August 9, 2004 Sheer stupidity. The good thing is that the four nimrods are(or soon will be) out of the gene pool
AL Posted August 9, 2004 Posted August 9, 2004 I don't think it's about the Xbox so much as it is about the perceived disrespect. If you think someone has stolen your things, you're going to feel disrespected. Not that this in anyway justifies this pointlessly and stupidly tragic event, but I think that's the real psychological angle here, and not simply because the dude loves his Xbox.
Sayonara Posted August 9, 2004 Posted August 9, 2004 In other words, it could just have easily been a VCR or a poodle.
-Demosthenes- Posted August 10, 2004 Posted August 10, 2004 If someone stole my poodle I'd be okay as long as they returned it well groomed.
jordan Posted August 10, 2004 Posted August 10, 2004 I think the point being made is that people in these situations are not killing merely because of the xbox. There are many strains from work (or lack of) and other social problems all culminating in this violation of trust/privacy/whatever and that can ofter push people over the edge. The fact that an xbox was involved had more to do with media involvment than anything else.
-Demosthenes- Posted August 10, 2004 Posted August 10, 2004 On second thought I would mind if someone stole my poodle well groomed or not.
alt_f13 Posted August 10, 2004 Posted August 10, 2004 http://i.a.cnn.net/cnn/2004/US/South/08/08/bodies.found/story.mug.shots.1.ap.jpg The guy on the right looks like me after I went on vacation with my new hat. And consoles are for people who can't appreciate the beauty and grace of a well tuned computer. Boo-erns, I say. Boo-erns.
