Can someone tell me if I am writing this equation right? I am trying to show the ion that is reacting in the solution. The solution: Al2(SO4)3

Equation: Al^+3 + H2O <----> Al(OH)^+2 + H^+

Al ions exist in hexaqua-form, that is, [Al(H2O)6]3+, so you should start with this. Your direction has been correct.
