ydoaPs Posted August 9, 2004 Posted August 9, 2004 who r the vips? what makes them so important? how did they become vips? what r the perks of bein a vip?
atinymonkey Posted August 9, 2004 Posted August 9, 2004 I've only seen one definition of VIP's, from the Fafamalone. VIP's are people with graduate degrees in a subject that are currently researching or lecturing in etc, or they are people who can provide a unique service to the site. They are not regular users, they probably would visit infrequently or even only once in the case of scientists who consent to give lectures or a QA thread. If Glider were not a Mod he would be a VIP, given his status in the real world scientific community. I'm not sure what unique abilitys they have. They have a name in green and I suspect they also have the ability to change there name. Other than that, they have one other super special skill that enables them to discuss stuff with Mods/Admins away from the masses.

Dave Posted August 9, 2004 Posted August 9, 2004 Yeah, this has been discussed a lot. We're thinking about phasing that group out since we don't really need it.
MulderMan Posted August 9, 2004 Posted August 9, 2004 are there any real VIP's here, im sure ive seen a post about that radio 1 presenter coming here, or is that my imagination.
Dave Posted August 9, 2004 Posted August 9, 2004 I think that was probably your imagination. I think we have quite a few graduates lurking around (like swansont and Glider), but I don't think anything you'd class as VIP.
MulderMan Posted August 9, 2004 Posted August 9, 2004 http://www.scienceforums.net/forums/showpost.php?p=31664&postcount=20 ha ha, and i thought i imagined it! im not sure if its real...
Dave Posted August 9, 2004 Posted August 9, 2004 I highly doubt that that was real. Especially considering the poster
