whats the thing happening with yellowstone

people are saying that yellowstone will erupt and cause mass destruction, but i think that is a lie.I want to find out for myself.The question is will yellowstone really erupt? Yellowstone is a massive supervolcano. It could erupt, and it would wipe out about half of North America with ash. There really doesn't seem like there is anything we could do about it either, other than hope it doesn't.
