blike Posted August 9, 2004 Posted August 9, 2004 Getting ready to test out the new chess system. Anyone want to play me? It's not a realtime system, so the game might take a few days to complete. All you have to do is login and make a move when it's convenient.
YT2095 Posted August 9, 2004 Posted August 9, 2004 good or bad, it makes no diff, the more you play, the better you get I lost at least 300 games in a row over a period of 4 years to one guy, and then one day I beat him, and now it occurs more regularly (even though he makes excuses for himself LOL) but I Thank him for making me a better player than I was, so win/lose, just do your best and learn some shit
J'Dona Posted August 9, 2004 Posted August 9, 2004 I'll play you, been getting bored of the competition I've got at home
YT2095 Posted August 9, 2004 Posted August 9, 2004 I recommend a clause be added that ANYONE found to be cheating gets banned for life too!
YT2095 Posted August 9, 2004 Posted August 9, 2004 simple, ya get another `puter, run a chess prog on the highest lev and enter your opponents moves, wait until it responds then submit the `puters move as your own ( I know, coz I beat a `puter via an email game with a german lad, and after I won, he confessed ( I`ve never played over the net since (
bloodhound Posted August 9, 2004 Posted August 9, 2004 u telling me u dont know? basically u get a chess program. make the move ur opponent moves in the chess program. and wait for the program to make a move and duplicate the move in the other game. hehe. [edit]opps look like i posted same time as YT[/edit]
Dave Posted August 9, 2004 Posted August 9, 2004 Trouble is, you can't really tell whether someone's cheating or whether they're just really good. But yes, if you're found to be cheating then you should definately be banned (however unlikely that is).
MulderMan Posted August 9, 2004 Posted August 9, 2004 ive seen a program that predicts ones move in advance, but thats not like cheating at cards or monopoly . but predicting the oponents move in advance is what most chess players do anyway.
Dave Posted August 9, 2004 Posted August 9, 2004 Trouble is, a lot of programs can do this far more effectively than a human can; Deep Blue did beat the grandmaster of the time, remember.
MulderMan Posted August 9, 2004 Posted August 9, 2004 does anyone use a good peice of freeware for playing chess with people on the internet? most of the ones ive seen you have to buy. and my family are no match to me.
bloodhound Posted August 9, 2004 Posted August 9, 2004 http://www.instantchess.com is a very good place. i used to play in yahoo before, but then my fren recommended me that and its very good.
jordan Posted August 9, 2004 Posted August 9, 2004 Two questions: 1) PM's are the place to arange a match, right? 2) Will there be any sort of ratings system instated so I can know who's good and who's more like me?
Dave Posted August 9, 2004 Posted August 9, 2004 1) Seems sensible. 2) Probably at some point, if it exists/can be easily made.
