japan rocks/andromeda Posted April 17, 2010 Posted April 17, 2010 if you think you know a country that no one else knows why dont you put that country name here (i know jordan lebanon and chad)
Moontanman Posted April 17, 2010 Posted April 17, 2010 Hissomonia, it's a small place, 3/4 of an acre, but I rule it with an iron fist.
Mr Skeptic Posted April 17, 2010 Posted April 17, 2010 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_sovereign_states We're much, much smarter than you think, juice.

ajb Posted April 18, 2010 Posted April 18, 2010 if you think you know a country that no one else knows why dont you put that country name here (i know jordan lebanon and chad) I know of, but have never been to Jordan, Lebanon and Chad. I cannot say I am familiar with their culture and traditions or anything like that. Would most people in the US not know of them? Looking at the wikipedia list there are plenty I don't know.
Icefire Posted April 19, 2010 Posted April 19, 2010 Well, there's Territorial Collectivity of St. Pierre and Miquelon, a group of islands just off the coast of Newfoundland which are technically colonies of France (the British seemed to have missed them).

tomgwyther Posted April 19, 2010 Posted April 19, 2010 I love the animanics song, I actually spent bout six months learning it all the way through. had to have it on a CD in the car nearly every day. got it learned though. It's now part of my live on stage repertoire, I usually do it at the end of a gig for fun. p.s. Notice the inclusion of Palestine as a 'country'. I wonder if Warner Brothers were deliberately having a poke at the anti-semitic Walt Disney? Or whether it just fitted better lyrically.
the tree Posted April 19, 2010 Posted April 19, 2010 Notice the inclusion of Palestine as a 'country'. I wonder if Warner Brothers were deliberately having a poke at the anti-semitic Walt Disney? Or whether it just fitted better lyrically. The also mentioned the consituent countries that make up the nation of Britian, I think they were just going for everything that could be really called a nation rather than recognised soveriegn states. Okay, what the hell, why am I discussing animaniacs on a science board? In this my fault, I know. But these threads are straddling the line between moderately entertaining and depressingly pointless. Some science, Juice, would be much more entertaining.
Dak Posted April 19, 2010 Posted April 19, 2010 The also mentioned the consituent countries that make up the nation of Britian, I think they were just going for everything that could be really called a nation rather than recognised soveriegn states. They seem to have forgotten Wales...
japan rocks/andromeda Posted April 20, 2010 Author Posted April 20, 2010 yeah but... Wales...wales what
tomgwyther Posted April 20, 2010 Posted April 20, 2010 Yea, Wales didn't get a mention, there are a few others missing. There are also a few added which aren't countries (Trasilvania for example is part of northern Romania. Also South Africa and Mauritius are missing) But if you're able to sing the whole song to someone on spur of the moment, it never fails to impress. Not to go too off-topic, but here are the lyrics I use when I perform this song. (Go on... have a sing along to the tune, you know you want to!) To stay on-topic: These are the countries i am aware of Juice. United States, Canada, Mexico, Panama, Haiti, Jamaica, Peru Republic Dominican, Cuba Caribbean, Greenland, El Salvador too. Puerto Rico, Columbia, Vanuzuala, Honduras, Guiana and still... Guatamala, Bolivia, Then Argentina and Ecuador, Chile, Brazil Costa Rica, Belize, Nicaragua, Bermuda, Bahamas, Tobago, San Juan Paraguay, Uruguay Surinam and French Guiana Barbados and Guam. Norway and Sweden and Iceland And Finland and Germany, now all one piece Switzerland Austria Czech and Slovakia Italy Turkey and Greece. Poland Romania Scotland Albania Ireland Russia Oman. Bulgaria, Saudi Arabia, Hungary, Cyprus, Iraq and Iran. Syria, Lebanon, Israel, Jordan, there's Yemen, Kuwait and Bahrain. The Netherlands, Luxombourg, Belgium and Portugal, France England Denmark and Spain. India, Pakistan, Burma, Afghanistan, Thailand, Nepal and Bhutan. Cambuchia, Malaysia then Bangladesh Asia, and China, Korea, Japan. Mongolia, Laos, Tibet, Indonesia, The Phillipene Island, Taiwan. Sri Lanka, New Guinea, Sumatra, New Zealand, Borneo and Vietnam. Tunisia, Morroco, Uganda, Angola, Zimbabwe, and then there's Botswana Mozambique, Zambia, Swaziland, Gambia, Guinea, Algeria, Ghana. Burundi, Lesotho and Malawi, Togo, The Spanish sahara is gone. Niger, Nigeria, Chad and Liberia, Egypt, Benin and Gabon. Tanzania, Somalia, Kenya and Mali, Sierra Leone and Algiers. Dahomy, Namibia, Senegal, Libya, Cameroon, Congo, Zaire. Ethiopia, Guinea Bissau, Madagascar, Rwanda, Lahore & Cayman. Hong-Kong, Abu Dhabi, Qatar, Yugoslavia... Crete, Mauritania, Croatia, Bosnia, Monaco, Lichtenstein, Malta and Palestine, Fiji, Australia, Sudan
Rickdog Posted April 21, 2010 Posted April 21, 2010 It must be a very old song, considering it mentions Yugoslavia and Czechoslovaquia, nations that no longer exists, since they have split up in other nations. Also by the fact it only considers as Russia, all that once was known as the Soviet Union, which in itself has many countries with their own identity and culture.

Icefire Posted April 22, 2010 Posted April 22, 2010 (edited) Story goes that when Princess Margriet of the Netherlands was born in Canada, the hospital she was born in was temporary declared part of the Netherlands to comply with royalty customs. EDIT: Wikipedia says it was just declared international territory. Edited April 22, 2010 by Icefire
