hi,

Was wondering, in the midst of M-theory, why there is predicted sparticles. Being like partners for the other normal particles and why they are or need to be heavier than their partners. Is it like a case of (required) equilibrium ?

Really sparticles are a generic feature of a supersymmetric point-particle theory, in the context of M-theory these would appear as a low energy limit. (First we we would have a supersymmetric string theory and then a supersymmetric point-particle theory)

 

The idea of (N=1) SUSY is that all the known particles and field, that is fermions and bosons respectively have partners that are shifted in spin by 1/2. These are the sparticles.

 

So, for example the electron which is a fermion would have a bosonic partner called the selectron. The bosonic photon has the fermionic partner the photino. And so on...
