I am trying to install a game which need FirectX 9.0 support.

Unfortunately, my display card does not support 9.0, it comes to 8.1 only.

What's the consequence if I install 9.0 for my computer in order to play that game?

Will the speed of playing some 8.1 or lower needed decrease?

Sincerely hope for your answer

well there are three possibilities, which i put down to chance!

either:

1) your display card will work extra hard, depending on your display card, this will either result in over heating, and eventual break down of it.

or alternatively

2) your display card will just overclock its whole life, but will be fine

3) there will be no difference at all.

i think the 3rd is the most likely, and say, try installing it if you can.

Ya, but I don't want to try it because DirectX is too difficult to remove and install the oringinal one.

Why do have a thought of the 3rd situation?

why the 3rd?

just because i cant imagine something like directX overclocking a graphics/display card. it just doesnt sound right.

contact the manufacture, i say that because, with time, all programs need the latest directX, most programs use 8.0 at the moment, but there is already a 9.0b, so if you dont update, you will soon be out of date, and way behind the times, maybe buy an upgrade, for less than £50 uk pounds.

i recommend:

NVIDIA GeForce4 MX 420

as a good cheap graphics card. although it is not current up-to-date and all, it is good value for money.

what happens if you run the program with directX 9?
