budullewraagh Posted August 17, 2004 Posted August 17, 2004 just for all you hardcore chemists out there, i advise you to go here: https://www.storesonline.com/site/579340/page/253679 things are being sold at as low as 10%!
J'Dona Posted August 17, 2004 Posted August 17, 2004 Wow, a pound of silicon carbide for only $5... but unfortunately they don't ship to the UK.
5614 Posted August 17, 2004 Posted August 17, 2004 that a good site, very cheap, but wont be that good, as it dont ship to the uk, and a lot of people ere are british! i mean, yt2095, me, J'Dona, all interested, all in the UK! [im guessing yt is!]
budullewraagh Posted August 17, 2004 Author Posted August 17, 2004 well, just a notice. those are some crazy low prices.
5614 Posted August 17, 2004 Posted August 17, 2004 wonders a) how he got them b) where his prophet cums from! lot of different stuff, maybe he mixes half of it himself...
budullewraagh Posted August 17, 2004 Author Posted August 17, 2004 perhaps. i'm thinking about taking some of that antimony trioxide and cesium chloride...
budullewraagh Posted August 17, 2004 Author Posted August 17, 2004 could fluorinate the antimony and use lithium replacement to recover cesium.
5614 Posted August 17, 2004 Posted August 17, 2004 caesium explodes in um, most stuff! like pure H2SO4, that should be a bit better than water, H2O!
budullewraagh Posted August 17, 2004 Author Posted August 17, 2004 And caesium explodes in water. Eeeexcellent. har har i'd definately go for a conc acid over water. the reaction with my supersaturated HCl would be so explosive that it would probably kill me if i added as little as 1g of it. i'd need a 20 foot pole!
5614 Posted August 17, 2004 Posted August 17, 2004 what is the 20ft pole made outta? lets guess: mercury an ex-atomic reactor control rod! and all the norms: francium cesium potassium etc etc.!
budullewraagh Posted August 17, 2004 Author Posted August 17, 2004 nah i was thinking of a stainless steel pole with the cesium at the end so i wouldn't blow myself up
5614 Posted August 17, 2004 Posted August 17, 2004 really, i would never have thought that!!!! [sarcastic!] why dont you try switching at which end the cesium is..... and see what happens?
budullewraagh Posted August 17, 2004 Author Posted August 17, 2004 so i can oxidize the cesium and cry for days?
Lance Posted August 18, 2004 Posted August 18, 2004 Umm.... cesium will explode on contact with air too. Instant oxidation anyone?
budullewraagh Posted August 18, 2004 Author Posted August 18, 2004 cesium will explode on contact with air too it doesn't explode. i've seen it react with water. i've seen it react with air. it just tarnishes instantly on contact with air. no flames or explosions.
