ydoaPs Posted August 19, 2004 Author Posted August 19, 2004 i did. it says "unable to connect: null." how did u know i used to be ezra_maliki? you can get it at messenger.yahoo.com
Cap'n Refsmmat Posted August 19, 2004 Posted August 19, 2004 I knew you are named ezra by using the built-in bot on the chatroom that google searches for you. I just typed in "google yourdadonapogostick".
Cap'n Refsmmat Posted August 19, 2004 Posted August 19, 2004 Obviously the bot is already on the internet, so it probaby did a google search like some metasearches can do (remotely).
ydoaPs Posted August 19, 2004 Author Posted August 19, 2004 yay, i figured it out. i think it would be safer if i change from using my upstairs to using my garage.
swansont Posted August 19, 2004 Posted August 19, 2004 NO! NO ALUMINUM! Aluminum, when hit with radiation, likes to shoot off neutrons (I think... I'll check in a minute) and neutron radiation is quite dangerous. You better get a Dosimeter and a charger off of eBay (preferably one with a low scale and one with a high scale) just to be safe. No, not a geiger counter, dosimeters will measure the amount of radiation you are exposed to over an extended period of time. ~10 keV X-rays aren't going to eject neutrons from Al. The energy required to eject a neutron from Al-27 is about 13 MeV. You are probably thinking of alpha scattering experiments. edit: used "alpha" instead of the tex. It worked in preview mode, though...
Cap'n Refsmmat Posted August 19, 2004 Posted August 19, 2004 Maybe I was thinking of alpha radiation hitting aluminum... sorry.
ydoaPs Posted August 21, 2004 Author Posted August 21, 2004 In the early 70's, wasn't NASA planning on using aluminum to send astronauts to Mars?

Cap'n Refsmmat Posted August 21, 2004 Posted August 21, 2004 Does he mean an aluminum space ship? Or aluminum propulsion????
ydoaPs Posted August 22, 2004 Author Posted August 22, 2004 in the ship. for the hull. they used it on Apollo, cuz it aint that heavy.
swansont Posted August 22, 2004 Posted August 22, 2004 in the ship. for the hull. they used it on Apollo, cuz it aint that heavy. So using it for a proposed Mars trip would be a) revolutionary b) obvious
ydoaPs Posted August 22, 2004 Author Posted August 22, 2004 but bad cuz radiation. read the whole thread.
RICHARDBATTY Posted September 20, 2004 Posted September 20, 2004 If you want lead glass like you see in a xray room your looking down the barrel of a grand. If you plan on buying an old xray machine don't, they are usualy from tight dentists who run then into the ground and only buy new when they get caught with dangerous equipment. My company was asked to service equipment for a dentist that was untested and so old it was ilegal. Don't bother you'll hurt your self or someone else. The higher the kv the more penitrating the radiation. You will not know this with an untested old machine. I don't want to spoil your fun but
