1123581321 Posted May 8, 2010 Posted May 8, 2010 Hi, Was wondering, in the view of the graviton being a closed string which can move or float out of our theoretical membrane, how is the fabric of the membrane made, to, at all allow the escape of closed strings.
ajb Posted May 8, 2010 Posted May 8, 2010 The branes can be thought of as subspaces of the bulk to which the open strings must start and end. Related to your question on gauge boson, gauge theories can be build geometrically from a stack on branes and stings connecting them. It turns out that branes should really be thought of a dynamical objects in their own right on par with strings. Closed strings are simply not confined to branes. They do not start or end!
