gra8052 Posted May 11, 2010 Posted May 11, 2010 have a theory about singularities and gravity. not sure if my theory is correct i just thought of it. gravity is caused by positive and negative charges correct? space is made up of these positive and negative charges according to quantum physics correct? so isnt space like a magnet? what i am getting at is when matter is discharged from a singularity out into space, gravity does not pull it back in because gravity weakens, but space pulls it out in all directions. which would also account for the fact that matter discharges in all directions and not up and out as it would appear it should. a singularity is theorized to be a hole. kind of like the barrel of a gun is a hole. when an object is forced out of the barrel it does not go in all directions it goes up and out. would not the same apply to a singularity? unless there were something on the outside pulling at it when it came out. what do you think? Mr Skeptic Posted May 11, 2010 Posted May 11, 2010 Looks pretty much all wrong. Try reading up a bit first, before thinking up of these new ideas. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gravity
ajb Posted May 11, 2010 Posted May 11, 2010 gravity is caused by positive and negative charges correct? Energy-momentum is the " gravitational charge". a singularity is theorized to be a hole. A singularity is a point on space-time where as you approach this point the "curvature" tends to infinity. (To be a little more precise would need a lot more mathematics.)
