MolecularMan14 Posted August 21, 2004 Posted August 21, 2004 Lately Ive been into distributed computing, like SETI, Folding, and UD...how about everyone else? I found this awesome website with loads of distributed computing projects! http://www.aspenleaf.com/distributed/ap-science.html I hope that this will influence more people to join up and help out!!
MolecularMan14 Posted August 21, 2004 Author Posted August 21, 2004 By the way...are there any rewards for the UD points...? On the client it says "Scores and Rewards" does that me we can get a hat or something?
MolecularMan14 Posted August 23, 2004 Author Posted August 23, 2004 r u on a team? Im on team 33 [H]ard for [H]umanity
MolecularMan14 Posted August 23, 2004 Author Posted August 23, 2004 Im also on a team for United Devices, Team 2ch. I dont actually know much about either [H]ardOPC or Team 2ch, but their both in #1 in points, so i figured i might as well help maintain that. Anyone else on a team?
MolecularMan14 Posted September 5, 2004 Author Posted September 5, 2004 Does anyone see any relevence in SETI anymore? Or has everyone's attention shifted to that on Earth and that affects us? lol. I really dont know, b/c I dont do SETI anymore, but I still have it on my comp. So every once in a while I finish off a Data Unit, b/c I dont have anything better to do. I guess it's a sort of childish fate that someday it will amount to something.
Dave Posted September 5, 2004 Posted September 5, 2004 I don't participate because (for the most part) the programs annoy me for some peculiar reason. I used to quite a lot though.
pi_of_9 Posted October 10, 2004 Posted October 10, 2004 Folding@home http://folding.stanford.edu Team 2CPU.com. Team #3074 FOLD FOR THE CAUSE (TREATMENT)!
YT2095 Posted October 12, 2004 Posted October 12, 2004 no, not anymore as the RC5DES and OGR and the 64`s been done, had too many probs with the ULing of data towards the end on the OGR competition. but yeah, I`ve been a "player" for about 6 years hence the "mad Cow stats" on my links page
Dave Posted October 12, 2004 Posted October 12, 2004 Just out of interest (and because this is all about distributed computing), anyone else use distcc a lot like me?
MolecularMan14 Posted October 14, 2004 Author Posted October 14, 2004 nope, but what is it? What is its purpose?
Caustic Posted October 14, 2004 Posted October 14, 2004 i have 27,292 points on UD right now, thats from 73 days of processing time. yeah, what are these "rewards" it talks about?
MolecularMan14 Posted October 14, 2004 Author Posted October 14, 2004 Ive only got 12152 now, a total of 26 days, 16 hrs, 30 min, 3 sec I really have no idea about the rewards. I was wondering the same thing. Do you get a shirt or something?
