Ncurtisbrown Posted May 19, 2010 Posted May 19, 2010 I need to learn how to classify an animal on sight for my biology class, and am goin to start learning all the phylum, any good ideas on how to memeoroze them all?
Genecks Posted May 19, 2010 Posted May 19, 2010 What do you need to memorize, how many animals, etc..? I need more information. In general, you could start with mnemonics and practicing recall.
ewmon Posted May 19, 2010 Posted May 19, 2010 The phylum names are often physically descriptive (using Latin and Greek) of some characteristic of the animals, so it seems helpful to learn the English meanings of the Latin and Greek parts of the phylum names. A threadlike animal might begin "nemato-", a flat animal might begin "platy-", etc. Even if you end up inventing a phylum name based on an animal's appearance, the teacher might give you partial credit.
Ncurtisbrown Posted May 19, 2010 Author Posted May 19, 2010 @ first awnser, I just need to memorize all of the animal phyla and organ systems associated with them. Thanks for the advice second awnser!
