was wondering why plastic is not conductive.

it's non-conductive because there are no free charge carriers available. everything is all tightly bound in place.

 

in conductors there is soemthing that is free to move within the substance to carry a charge from A to B. in the case of metals, this is delocalised electrons, in a conductive solution the ions are free to move etc.

That's why plastic don't corrode.
