insane_alien Posted May 26, 2010 Posted May 26, 2010 it's non-conductive because there are no free charge carriers available. everything is all tightly bound in place. in conductors there is soemthing that is free to move within the substance to carry a charge from A to B. in the case of metals, this is delocalised electrons, in a conductive solution the ions are free to move etc.
