Anura Posted June 9, 2010 Posted June 9, 2010 How do I free RAM space on my computer? And is it possible to free up memory? I'm kinda inexperienced with computers.
timo Posted June 9, 2010 Posted June 9, 2010 Run less programs at a time, switch to programs that require less memory themselves. It would probably be better if you described what you actually want to do (and why), what kind of computer you are talking about, possibly what operating system you are using, ... .
vordhosbn Posted June 9, 2010 Posted June 9, 2010 You can use software such as FreeRAM Pro to make your other applications write their volatile data to swap memory, thus freeing some RAM just before you launch your memory hungry application.
Mr Skeptic Posted June 9, 2010 Posted June 9, 2010 You can open the task manager (press Ctrl+Alt+Del), which contains a list of running programs. It can be sorted by memory footprint and by CPU usage. Many of these programs are unnecessary. You can close them from task manager and see if bad things happen, or look them up online first. Some of them you may want to disable them from starting automatically when you turn on your computer.
