Anura Posted June 9, 2010 Posted June 9, 2010 Do chemists mix chemicles all day. Making up different compounds. And isn't a guy making moonshine a chemist?
Bobba fett Posted June 9, 2010 Posted June 9, 2010 Do chemists mix chemicles all day. Chemistry is not all about mixing chemicals.
Horza2002 Posted June 9, 2010 Posted June 9, 2010 Chemistry is not just about mixing A and B together to get C. Granted some of chemistry is like that but you need to remember that the hard part is working out what you need to add, how much, when to add, how to purify, is what I got what i expceted, stereocontrol, getting a good yeild etc....thats just synthetic chemistry. Chemistry also involves the study of kinetics of reactions (i.e. how fast they go), determining mechanisms (the route a reaction takes), theoretical chemistry (using computer models to estimate how certain reactions may proceed), structural studies (the structure and arrangement of atoms etc) So no chemistry is not just about mixing stuff together!
hermanntrude Posted June 9, 2010 Posted June 9, 2010 technically, a guy making moonshine is several things. A biochemist, a sythetic chemist, a brewer, a criminal, and in many cases, foolhardy.
John Cuthber Posted June 9, 2010 Posted June 9, 2010 I am a chemist and I spend quite a lot of time separating chemicals. BTW, A good moonshiner is an artist too.
Externet Posted June 11, 2010 Posted June 11, 2010 There are some chemists that daily turn beer, moonshine and wine into urine.
