Riotcheif Posted June 17, 2010 Posted June 17, 2010 mine tailings contain many other minerals, such as Al(OH3) PbCO3, CoCO3 and ZnCO3 will the oxidation of pyrite affect any of these metals? why/why not?
cypress Posted June 18, 2010 Posted June 18, 2010 This also looks like a homework question. Pyrite is Iron Sulfide, FeS2 which can be oxidized with oxygen and water to a sulfate. So the question is what impact does Sulfate or sulfuric acid have on these other minerals? Any ideas?
