Douglas Posted September 18, 2004 Posted September 18, 2004 He is also stupid. Thales, you seem to be getting your news from the liberal press. According to them Ford, Reagan, Bush Sr and now Bush Jr are stupid. The comparatively small amount of attention paid by the political press to the President’s Harvard MBA partially reflects a generalized ignorance of, and hostility toward, the degree itself. More importantly, acknowledging that he learned any valuable intellectual perspectives would contradict the storyline that young W was a party animal, who coasted through his elite education, scarcely cracking a book. In other words, as the left never tires of claiming, he is too “stupid” to have picked up any tricks across the Charles River from Harvard Square. This is patently incorrect. Having attended Harvard Business School at the same time as the President, graduating from the two-year program a year after he did, and then serving on its faculty after a year’s interval spent writing a PhD thesis, I am intimately familiar with the rigors of the program at the time, and the miniscule degree of slack cut for even the most well-connected students, when their performance did not make the grade.[ He also was a pilot of the F-102 Delta Dagger, one of the most dangerous aircraft in the USAF to land. I'm going to save your post, since I plan to debunk every thing in it.
budullewraagh Posted September 18, 2004 Posted September 18, 2004 you see, that chart you produced was mostly useless considering bush lost the popular vote. and yes, ford, reagan, bush sr and bush jr were stupid. the bushes are liars. as i recall, sr said "read my lips, no taxes". guess what. there were taxes, and plenty of them. jr lied repetedly of course on iraq. if you lost money because of enron, you can blame reagan and his free trade acts. ah, and with regard to bush's service as the pilot of a "dangerous" aircraft, i laugh at you for that. tell me this, if you go to college for four years and do not attend classes, do you graduate? nah, not really. bush was a "member" of the national guard who had a highly coveted position (due to his father's help) but he decided to dishonor his position and skip just about everything possible. if you asked him to fly a plane today i bet he'd tell you he couldn't. more importantly, this was a position that kept bush out of enemy fire. he dishonored it. that is shameful
Thales Posted September 18, 2004 Posted September 18, 2004 I'm not an American. I get my infomation from watching the events of the world and Mr Bush's actions and speeches and from them drawing my own conclusions. I can not see how any objective, intelligent person could come a conclusion other than Bush being a total moron. Your obviously republican, but have you ever considered that voting for who is the lesser of two evils rather than sticking to your political guns for the sake of......well I can't think of any legitimate reason to do so. Bush is a moron and if you plan on voting for him it implies you have little to no respect for the global community.
jordan Posted September 18, 2004 Posted September 18, 2004 the bushes are liars. as i recall, sr said "read my lips, no taxes". guess what. there were taxes, and plenty of them. The quote was "Read my lips, no new taxes" first off. Second, do you really value him sticking to his campaign promises more than doing what he thinks is best as dictated by the changing times? Third, is this the only account of a president "lying" you can remember?
Phi for All Posted September 18, 2004 Posted September 18, 2004 Thales, you seem to be getting your news from the liberal press. Douglas, you seem to have a pretty one-sided view of things yourself. I try to read articles from both sides, and put it all together. As for Bush being stupid, I'm not listening to anyone else, I'm listening to Bush himself. The man lacks something in his brain that most people have. He forgets what he has just said, or he's not listening to the words that come out of his mouth. He doesn't read reports and memoranda that are prepared at great expense for him. He reads watered down, 1 or 2 page condensations of those reports because he himself admits he's not a big reader. That would be alright, I guess, if he listened to the people who did read those reports. But he doesn't. He has ignored advisors from his own intelligence teams, economics panels, foreign policy experts time and time again. He is trying to use a war involving the American military in Iraq and Afghanistan to wipe out terrorism, when the terrorists who hurt us came mostly from Saudi Arabia, a country he has personal ties to that still, to this day, not only harbors, but funds terrorists more than Iraq ever did. Missiles, planes, ground troops and tanks are no way to stop an enemy who can hide among civilians, disappear at will and who never come at you in numbers large enough to warrant such excessive, costly measures. Nineteen terrorists attacked the US on 9/11/01, and Bush's response has been ludicrous at best. Kerry understands an enemy who can melt into invisibility and hide among the population. He fought in Vietnam where the VC were much like Al Qaeda in their small but effective efforts. Hit the giant in a hundred places, inflict small but important wounds, demoralize and terrorize the giant, that's the way the guerilla warrior works. The Soviets failed in Afghanistan, we failed in Afghanistan, we're failing in Iraq because we aren't using the right kind of warfare. We're using what makes arms dealers and defense contractors rich and our country poor. I almost get the feeling the rich mega-corporations will be there to help take over leadership when the US goes bankrupt. And considering the way the polls are going for Bush, at least half the country are fools enough to think this would be a good thing.
jordan Posted September 18, 2004 Posted September 18, 2004 As for Bush being stupid, I'm not listening to anyone else, I'm listening to Bush himself. The man lacks something in his brain that most people have. What he also seems to have is charisma...somehow. Despite the fact that yours seems to be the prevailing attitude of most everyone (even some who will vote for him), he has found a way to get (what is on pace to be) two terms in office. How do you account for the fact that he is such a big idiot but has managed to manipulate the country to vote for him? Surely that takes inteligence.
Thales Posted September 18, 2004 Posted September 18, 2004 The man lacks something in his brain that most people have. Its funny because its true. How do you account for the fact that he is such a big idiot but has managed to manipulate the country to vote for him? Surely that takes inteligence. No it takes half a counrty full of idiots who can't think for themselves.
Phi for All Posted September 18, 2004 Posted September 18, 2004 What he also seems to have is charisma...somehow.Please, please, PLEASE listen to yourself and maybe go back and read this entire thread. Many here have given you a ton of reasons why Bush is so lacking as the world's most powerful and influential leader. Can you list for us some of the good things you think he has done? I don't see a whole lot of that. You've been saying he's not that dumb. Fine. Let's talk about accomplishments while in office. Can you point out some of those, please?
Douglas Posted September 18, 2004 Posted September 18, 2004 and yes, ford, reagan, bush sr and bush jr were stupid. the bushes are liars. as i recall, sr said "read my lips, no taxes". guess what. there were taxes, and plenty of them. jr lied repetedly of course on iraq. your entire post is hogwash, full of innuendoes. "read my lips, no taxes". This is a lie?.........Yikes Give me an example of where bush lied on Iraq.............bet you can't
Sayonara Posted September 18, 2004 Posted September 18, 2004 Only a mindless fool would make a statement like that. Incorrect. Anyone who is observant and keeps track of the cause and effect that surrounds Bush would make a statement like that. I would say the mindless fool is the one who takes "popularity data" from before the events in question, and then claims it supports the view that Bush is not the worst thing to happen to the world since Stalin, what with there being absolutely no logical or causal connection whatsoever.
Phi for All Posted September 18, 2004 Posted September 18, 2004 your entire post is hogwash' date=' full of innuendoes. "read my lips, no taxes". This is a lie?.........Yikes Give me an example of where bush lied on Iraq.............bet you can't[/quote']Here's one (I don't want to hog the forum): Bush said that Saddam was a year or less away from having nuclear capability. Now Condoleezza Rice claims that no one in the administration ever said that, that he was years away, maybe five.
Thales Posted September 18, 2004 Posted September 18, 2004 I've got one; Saddam Hussein represents a real and present threat to the US. Or how about the whole fact they planned to invade the country before 9/11 it was just the perfect catalyst.
budullewraagh Posted September 18, 2004 Posted September 18, 2004 Give me an example of where bush lied on Iraq.............bet you can't actually i can give you a few: "AHHHHHHHHH WE'RE GOING TO BE 0WNZ0R3D BY 1337 H4X0RZ WIT DE NUK35! "AHHHHHHHH SADDAM HUSSEIN IS CONSPIRING WITH TEH T3RR0R15T5!!!ONE!111UNO111!!! PH34R!"
Phi for All Posted September 18, 2004 Posted September 18, 2004 Give me an example of where bush lied on Iraq.............bet you can'tOoh ooh, here's another:He claimed that all intelligence data pointed to the fact that Saddam had purchased fissionable materials when it came out later that the CIA sent him two different memos detailing their belief that the documents regarding the sale of African uranium were believed to be forged.
Douglas Posted September 18, 2004 Posted September 18, 2004 I've got one; Saddam Hussein represents a real and present threat to the US. Or how about the whole fact they planned to invade the country before 9/11 it was just the perfect catalyst. Bush did not LIE. He was fed info from the U.S., British and Russian intellegence. He may have been misled, but he did not lie.
Douglas Posted September 18, 2004 Posted September 18, 2004 Ooh ooh' date=' here's another:He claimed that [u']all intelligence data pointed to the fact that Saddam had purchased fissionable materials[/u] when it came out later that the CIA sent him two different memos detailing their belief that the documents regarding the sale of African uranium were believed to be forged. And how does that make it a lie?
Phi for All Posted September 18, 2004 Posted September 18, 2004 And how does that make it a lie?Hello?! He knew about the CIA's doubts from the memos but told the public there were no doubts about the intelligence information. Bald-face lie.
Douglas Posted September 18, 2004 Posted September 18, 2004 Where can I find these memo's? They must be on the internet.
budullewraagh Posted September 18, 2004 Posted September 18, 2004 it seems like you have an incredible amount of trust in one who is not only highly questioned by the majority of the world but has been proven to be a liar (except not quite so publicly). i strongly advise you to not vote this year and just think for awhile about your close-mindedness. i am willing to debate and discuss here, not speak to one who will not even consider opposing views for as little as a moment's time.

I always consider opposing views, but the above posts have been nonsense. Lets try social security. Whose plan do you like best?
budullewraagh Posted September 18, 2004 Posted September 18, 2004 HAHA! funny you mention it. since reagan, the republicans have been chipping away at social security. he privatized it, making it so that people should take out a lesser percent of their paychecks for social security and risk the rest of it. bush is considering making the age for receiving social security older. that's not good.
Phi for All Posted September 18, 2004 Posted September 18, 2004 Where can I find these memo's? They must be on the internet. http://bush-lies.blogspot.com/http://www.bushwatch.com/bushlies.htm http://www.house.gov/appropriations_democrats/caughtonfilm.htm http://www.bushlies.net/pages/1/ http://www.thenation.com/doc.mhtml?i=20031013&s=corn http://pearly-abraham.tripod.com/htmls/bushlies1.html http://www.tvnewslies.org/html/bush_lies.html And let me forestall your next objection, because we've all heard it here too many times to count. These sites ALL have an anti-Bush bias because they are pointing out the fact that he LIES to the world and the Americans he leads, half of whom are so trusting of the presidency that they can't see how badly he's mislead us. I was hoping you would ask for links so I didn't have to take up valuable time posting each of Bush's lies for you. Enjoy your reading. But I have this sneaking suspicion you're NOT going to read them at all. Because, quite frankly, they do not support your position. So you'll dismiss them as being from the "liberal" press. That's probably why you are so woefully misinformed.
Douglas Posted September 18, 2004 Posted September 18, 2004 Both the Repub's and Dem's are considering raising the retirement age. You were not specific about which SS plan you liked, and why

The one I liked best, was the last one http://www.tvnewslies.org/html/bush_lies.html
