deviantART.com seems like popular for graphics stuff.

 

coolness - 3D stuff are cool, I was meddling in it for a while but give up. one of the free source of 3D tools is POVRAY raytracer. But for the 3d animation industry, maybe need to learn the more popular commercial soft-wares, which is not this one, I think.

http://www.howstuffworks.com has always been interesting to me. It gives an in depth analysis of hundreds of subjects and is probably the second best site I've ever seen for answering all those "how does that work?" questions you have in life ( second to asking the resident experts here at SFN that is!)
