Hi all, how can you minimize errors in an experiment ? (factors effecting permeability of beetroot)?

in relation to these things: tissue preparation, timing errors, reading of absorbance values

any ideas :)

appart from being as precise and consistant as possible the answer is repetition, repetition, repetition.

followed by a good statistical analysis of the raw results.

also, limit the number of variables you deal with. if you're not sure some factor is a variable, assume it is and keep it fixed. make sure that the only variable that can vary is the one you want to vary.

Well it all starts off with a good experimental design, obviously. Which does include the use of proper controls and choosing or developing the right protocols for the job at hand.

Hi,

I would suggest maybe looking at other ways of attempting the experiment, look at risk factors around all of them and see which has the LEAST. And as you are doing it take all precausions to be as spot on as you can, if you approuch a hard part then take a step back from the table or what ever and evaluate the sitution.
