adaa4girls Posted July 31, 2010 Posted July 31, 2010 I'm a computer science student doing my software project on chromosomes. I need microscopic images of chromosomes without overlaps and crossovers with clear band pattern. The image i posted has some overlaps and crossovers when i count the number of images the overlapped chromosomes are counted as one. My research concept is based on classification so I need a well good spread image to classify the chromosomes. Please suggest me the link or suggest your ideas where I can find the images. If possible mail me the link. I'm badly in need of it.
niharika Posted April 9, 2011 Posted April 9, 2011 (edited) u take xerox from books like snustad simmons or grifiths principles of genetics.nice photographs will be there in karyotyping topic. and also try this image at http://www.google.co.in/imgres?imgurl=http://biology.ucsd.edu/classes/bimm110.SP07/images/chromosomes.gif&imgrefurl=http://biology.ucsd.edu/classes/bimm110.SP07/lectures_WEB/L08.05_Cytogenetics.htm&usg=__47a2KW9vMDedBIKkuRHYiu_e0XQ=&h=515&w=543&sz=34&hl=en&start=209&zoom=1&tbnid=Aow8--c2XGGEIM:&tbnh=123&tbnw=142&ei=blmgTfXeEYjIvQPQ8c39BA&prev=/search%3Fq%3Dkaryotyping%26hl%3Den%26biw%3D1276%26bih%3D562%26gbv%3D2%26tbm%3Disch0%2C4653&itbs=1&iact=hc&vpx=754&vpy=185&dur=3701&hovh=219&hovw=231&tx=148&ty=115&oei=YVmgTcq-OujKcMKz0fgB&page=11&ndsp=22&ved=1t:429,r:19,s:209&biw=1276&bih=562 Edited April 9, 2011 by niharika
Ringer Posted April 9, 2011 Posted April 9, 2011 I don't really ever remember seeing an actual picture of chromosomes in the process of crossing over. It only happens during metaphase 1 of meiosis if i remember correctly, and since it works on homologous chromosomes it would just look like overlap.
