non LINEAR+-*/ Posted August 20, 2010 Posted August 20, 2010 Hello All here is my question " Why DC mahchines are laminated at the pole shoes ( for large power machines poles also ) and Servos are laminated poles and yokes also ?" and i heard lamination in transformers is done to reduce the Eddy current loss......;\ Expecting much friends to reply here ..... Thanks in advance ... by non LINEAR+-*/
Danijel Gorupec Posted August 24, 2010 Posted August 24, 2010 The magnetic filed is not really steady. It fluctuates (it is influenced by alternating current of aramture winding). By laminating, you reduce losses (by eddy currents). In servo motors, it is even more important to reduce losses.
