DJBruce Posted August 23, 2010 Posted August 23, 2010 So I am wondering what the optimal temperature range for a laptop is. According to SpeedFan my GPU is 64C and my core is 54C.
StringJunky Posted August 23, 2010 Posted August 23, 2010 (edited) So I am wondering what the optimal temperature range for a laptop is. According to SpeedFan my GPU is 64C and my core is 54C. http://www.pantherproducts.co.uk/Articles/CPU/CPU%20Temperatures.shtml The temps are maximums...ideally the normal figure wants to be 20c below stated figure according to the above article. Google around for the heat spec on your particular graphics card. You can use Speccy to see what card it is: http://www.filehippo.com/download_speccy The CPU is 51c and GPU is 61c on my laptop. If the cpu hits 70 and the GPU over 80 that's when I get concerned... Edited August 23, 2010 by StringJunky 1
StringJunky Posted August 24, 2010 Posted August 24, 2010 (edited) Thanks StringJunky. Have a +. Thanks. Your computer has Thermal Overload Protection so it will shutdown automatically and probably without warning if it exceeds a predefined level (mine does in this situation)....if the ambient temperature is not unusually warm and it keeps doing it that's when you should suspect a problem. You could kick this mechanism in unwittingly by blocking the fan vent when it's sat on you or soft furnishings. Edited August 24, 2010 by StringJunky

Yeah in hindsight I left it sitting on my bed, while I was away. So you are probably right that something was blocking the fan.
alpha2cen Posted January 31, 2011 Posted January 31, 2011 (edited) Does very low temperature give no effects on computer operation? Edited January 31, 2011 by alpha2cen
Fuzzwood Posted January 31, 2011 Posted January 31, 2011 It does, it alters conductive properties of semiconductors just like heat does.
