they don't. photons have no mass or volume and thus they have nothing resisting their motion. they are the fastest "things" that exist. quarks have mass and volume and thus cannot exceed the speed of light.

What about the tachyon (or other faster-than-light) theories? Even though, photons are the fastest things proved to exist.

cap'n said it all, theory means it's not possible yet [or ever], no one knows if they exist, its all questions with no answers.

 

quarks can't travel faster than light.

 

as far as we are concerned nothing can travel faster than light, except the 'effectively made up' tachyons...
