iNow Posted August 31, 2010 Posted August 31, 2010 (edited) "just because I have no evidence, reasons, or knowledge in the field doesn't make my theory wrong"-quark"well it doesn't help your case"-molecule "your just being closed minded"-quark "closed minded and skeptical is not the same a closed minded person says "thats not true" a skeptical person says "prove it" and when and when no answer is given it becomes "I THINK thats untrue""-molecule I have concerns with formatting and length. Also, syntax and formatting on final sentence has problems. Maybe pick one which summarizes all of them... especially since the post count based user titles often won't mean much to readers. Perhaps something like this: http://skeptico.blogs.com/skeptico/2005/10/the_appeal_to_b.html It is not closed-minded to reject claims that make no sense. If you can’t accept the possibility that an idea might be false, then you are the closed minded one. An open minded person will critically examine all claims but will not accept them if there is no reason to believe they are true or if there is reason to believe they are false. dragonstar57 Posted August 31, 2010 Author Posted August 31, 2010 I changed it to what you suggested but i didn't put it in quotes as I don't know how
iNow Posted August 31, 2010 Posted August 31, 2010 I changed it to what you suggested but i didn't put it in quotes as I don't know how Two things. First, to put it in quotes, simply wrap it in quote tags... like this: It is not closed-minded to reject claims that make no sense. If you can’t accept the possibility that an idea might be false, then you are the closed minded one. An open minded person will critically examine all claims but will not accept them if there is no reason to believe they are true or if there is reason to believe they are false. You can literally copy paste that into your signature. Second, you might want to attribute it, since you are directly quoting someone else. The easiest way would probably be to link to the comment with URL tags, like this: It is not closed-minded to reject claims that make no sense. If you can’t accept the possibility that an idea might be false, then you are the closed minded one. An open minded person will critically examine all claims but will not accept them if there is no reason to believe they are true or if there is reason to believe they are false. If you copy/paste that, it will appear like this in your sig: It is not closed-minded to reject claims that make no sense. If you can’t accept the possibility that an idea might be false, then you are the closed minded one. An open minded person will critically examine all claims but will not accept them if there is no reason to believe they are true or if there is reason to believe they are false. Another way to do it would be to quote it, then have the link below it (so it doesn't have all of the underlining, which is sort of distracting)... Like this: It is not closed-minded to reject claims that make no sense. If you can’t accept the possibility that an idea might be false, then you are the closed minded one. An open minded person will critically examine all claims but will not accept them if there is no reason to believe they are true or if there is reason to believe they are false. - http://skeptico.blogs.com/skeptico/2005/10/the_appeal_to_b.html That will look like this: It is not closed-minded to reject claims that make no sense. If you can’t accept the possibility that an idea might be false, then you are the closed minded one. An open minded person will critically examine all claims but will not accept them if there is no reason to believe they are true or if there is reason to believe they are false. - http://skeptico.blogs.com/skeptico/2005/10/the_appeal_to_b.html
