ydoaPs Posted September 13, 2004 Posted September 13, 2004 how long will it take for me to get invites?
MolecularMan14 Posted September 13, 2004 Posted September 13, 2004 Cheers! More thanks than words!!! Gratitude!
pulkit Posted September 13, 2004 Posted September 13, 2004 how long will it take for me to get invites? Totally variable. Some get them the first time they log into gmail, others have to wait upto a month.
5614 Posted September 13, 2004 Posted September 13, 2004 when does gmail become open to the public, i mean obviously it has already swept across the world, thousands maybe millions are on it, but when is it fully released?
pulkit Posted September 13, 2004 Posted September 13, 2004 I think it would be sensible not to open it to public. As it is by this point most people are in contact with someone or the other who has a gmail account and it would be easy to get a gmail account. Opening it to the public would un-necessarily clog up their systems, with people doing all sorts of crap like opening multiple accounts. Plus its somewhat limited availablity has built around it a sort of charm as well.
ydoaPs Posted September 13, 2004 Posted September 13, 2004 until today, i was the only one in town with gmail.
Lance Posted September 14, 2004 Posted September 14, 2004 I have 6 invites but the link doesnt work. Its not even a link, its underlined words! whats with that?!
pulkit Posted September 14, 2004 Posted September 14, 2004 I hope you don't have a pop-up blocker. When you click on invites, a pop-up comes up prompting you to fill in the email address to which to send the invite.
5614 Posted September 14, 2004 Posted September 14, 2004 all decent anti-spyware and firewalls have inbuilt pop-up blockers, as does firefox.... a common internet broswer... i doub that the gmail is a pop-up, probably a java link or something, any way, pop-up blockers block unwanted windows from opening, if you click a link, which leads you to a new window [or tab in firefox] then it should still work
pulkit Posted September 14, 2004 Posted September 14, 2004 Pop-up blockers do block out this particular window, I know out of experience. Easy solution : Allow all pop-ups on gmail Lots of things in gmail are through pop-up windows so this is a good idea.
5614 Posted September 14, 2004 Posted September 14, 2004 thats really stupid...... gmail brings up 'good' pop-up boxes, this will get a lot of people... reminder, with pop-up blockers dont disable the whole thing, just allow all pop-ups from gmail, the ways of doing this vary within the different pop-up blockers, just use the help file to find the individual way of doing it.
MolecularMan14 Posted September 14, 2004 Posted September 14, 2004 I really like the Yahoo feature of the Breifcase. I have made a few suggestions to Google, I cant wait for the full version to come out. Anyone have any idea of WHEN the full version will be coming out?
5614 Posted September 14, 2004 Posted September 14, 2004 i asked that earlier... http://www.scienceforums.net/forums/showthread.php?t=5868&page=3&pp=20 post #57 about 3/4 of the way down the page
