YT2095 Posted September 15, 2004 Posted September 15, 2004 you said : Encrypted __________________ 32.22.7.11.2.9.42.31.22< and challenge us to decode it ) how about if you read it bacwards and use simple letter numbering reversal too, like Z-1 Y=2 etc... 22= E 22 occurs twice as does the letter E in your nick, but in reverse order, the letter Y is second from the end of the alphabet (hence 2). am I getting close? LOL ) oh yeah, and the letter count adds up too
bloodhound Posted September 15, 2004 Posted September 15, 2004 Doesnt seem to work. 32 for example, if u work in mod 26. is in ur case with bacward numbering U
YT2095 Posted September 15, 2004 Author Posted September 15, 2004 I agree it`s not perfect, but I recon it`s close, maybe some second letter rolling code or offset?
Sayonara Posted September 15, 2004 Posted September 15, 2004 Unless it's completely backwards, and 32 is actually 23. Which works fine as "d" where 22 is "e".
bloodhound Posted September 15, 2004 Posted September 15, 2004 so with ur method. and considering any number greater than 26 in mod26. we get this word with backward numbering and reading the message backwards EVKRYPTEU maybe he did it wrong? or maybe he encrypted it twice usuing different methods? who knows
Sayonara Posted September 15, 2004 Posted September 15, 2004 No, the numbers->letters are backwards (a=26, z=1), and the whole thing is then written [acr=Right to Left]RTL[/acr]
bloodhound Posted September 15, 2004 Posted September 15, 2004 I am not sure. if u read 32 , backwardds 23,. u get D!!!!!! now just to decode the whole thing
YT2095 Posted September 15, 2004 Author Posted September 15, 2004 Unless it's completely backwards' date=' and 32 is actually 23. Which works fine as "d" where 22 is "e".[/quote'] GOOD CALL! single numbers wont change nor will double digits the same (22 or 11 for example). maybe NOT so "Encrypted" afterall I can`t wait to hear his response, he`s SOooooo Busted if we`re right )
bloodhound Posted September 15, 2004 Posted September 15, 2004 DETPYRCNE which reads backwards ENCRYPTED!!! WELL DONE SAYONARA.
Sayonara Posted September 15, 2004 Posted September 15, 2004 A= 26 B= 25 C= 24 D= 23 E= 22 F= 21 G= 20 H= 19 I= 18 J= 17 K= 16 L= 15 M= 14 N= 13 O= 12 P= 11 Q= 10 R= 9 S= 8 T= 7 U= 6 V= 5 W= 4 X= 3 Y= 2 Z= 1 Code reads: 32.22.7.11.2.9.42.31.22 Reverse it: 22.13.24.9.2.11.7.22.23 Translated message reads: E.N.C.R.Y.P.T.E.D
bloodhound Posted September 15, 2004 Posted September 15, 2004 Wel done to YT as well for first noticing the Symmetric property of 22 and 11
Sayonara Posted September 15, 2004 Posted September 15, 2004 The fact that no right-hand digit in double digit numbers was above 2 was the giveaway for the double reversedness.
YT2095 Posted September 15, 2004 Author Posted September 15, 2004 it was the placement of the 22 that gave it away to me initialy, then the Y thing, I just wish I could see his face when he reads this Pat on Backs lads, DAMN we`re clever )
bloodhound Posted September 15, 2004 Posted September 15, 2004 This is quite fun actually. we should have more of these decryption challenges. feel like a detective on a man hunt
YT2095 Posted September 15, 2004 Author Posted September 15, 2004 it`s astonishing what can be accomplished in a coffee break with a little added boredom maybe we should send him a PM back in his own code saying "Sorry, your challenge has got us beat", then I can hide this thread for a while what ya recon?
bloodhound Posted September 15, 2004 Posted September 15, 2004 that would be great!!!. Do we want to challenge him as well by adding something extra to the code?
YT2095 Posted September 15, 2004 Author Posted September 15, 2004 naah, not for the 1`st msg, we can add a PS. though in our own code maybe ASCII reversed?
bloodhound Posted September 15, 2004 Posted September 15, 2004 na. that would be too easy. something harder, but not to o hard... thinking..
YT2095 Posted September 15, 2004 Author Posted September 15, 2004 here, check this out: 8.21.9.9.2, 2.21.6.9 42.21.8 91.62.8 6.8 52.22.62.7 what ya recon? of course I`ll type all that in backwards. how about ASCII code, into binary, then flip all the ones to Zeros and then invert the byte
Encrypted Posted September 15, 2004 Posted September 15, 2004 YOU GUYS ARE AMAZING!!!! WELL DONE! YES YOU GOT IT RIGHT. the < was meant to tell you which way to read the numbers. Yes i will make new challenges! I agree this is fun, i make you break! lol
-Demosthenes- Posted September 16, 2004 Posted September 16, 2004 Mp pmr eo;; rbrt ntrsl ,u vpfr, js js. HINT: look down.
J'Dona Posted September 16, 2004 Posted September 16, 2004 Mp pmr eo;; rbrt ntrsl ' date='u vpfr, js js. HINT: look down.[/quote']"No one will ever break my codem ha ha,"? That's including typos, otherwise it might have read "Mp pmr eo;; rbrt ntrsl ,u vpfr. js js/", which would have been decoded to "No one will ever break my code, ha ha." We should start an official code tread for this kind of thing.
bloodhound Posted September 16, 2004 Posted September 16, 2004 why do pple cal it code? we should get a Ecryption Decryption Subforum.
Dave Posted September 16, 2004 Posted September 16, 2004 Maybe cryptographic forum would be better? As a suggestion, some good algorithms to try are some variations on the simple Caesar shifts (like these), Persenne squares are also quite fun to try and crack. The simpler Viginere square is easier to crack.
