''Gammaretroviral and lentiviral vectors for gene therapy have been developed that mediate stable genetic modification of treated cells by chromosomal integration of the transferred vector genomes. This technology is of use, not only for research purposes, but also for clinical gene therapy aiming at the long-term correction of genetic defects''

does this mean that the genetic make up in my triceps can be changed by a process such as this??

Yes, the genetic makeup can be changed but the methods are considered rather crude and dangerous. When using a retrovirus (a virus that converts from RNA to DNA which is errorprone, and then inserts itself in the DNA which has a random aspect to it too), there's always the fear of causing cancer. While I'm not sure just how significant the probability is, cancer is not a very nice potential side effect.

Well, some countries are more lenient than others about experimental medicine. However, you'd still have to find a doctor willing to do it especially considering it doesn't sound like you have a genetic disease to cure.

would u know which countries, n i do have a slight varition in the back of my arm, in the tricep, n its really getting me down.

have you considered less invasive and potentially lethal methods of fixing the 'variation'.

i mean it could be as simple as doing some exercises to fix it.

u misunderstand i do exercises on my triceps but they havent formed the way they're surpossed to they are very very different to normal.

that sounds like you are exercising the wrong parts of the muscles there. that isn't a genetic isssue and wouldn't be solved by any genetic modification at all. what you'll need to do is find different exercises that build up the muscles differently. the best people to consult on this would be body builders as they tend to build muscle for shape.

genetic modification would only be detrimental to you and offer no benefit.

no, im exercising the right part doing all different sorts of exercises, for that specific area and it just doesnt seem to form noramlly, im losing a chunk of muscle mass in my tricep lateral head and no matter what i do it just doesnt seem to change, and ive spoken to body builders, and other people who specialise in exercise, and they all say its to do with genetics, for some strange very frustrating reason my tricep hasnt formed the way it ought to, so im hoping genetic modification, or cosmetic surgery or anything along those lines can help make a change.

genetic modification wouldn't help you.

for one, scientists would need to know the exact genes that influence that part of the muscle(they don't), which of your genes are wrong requiring a hefty amount of genetic sequencing which is expensive and then to design a delivery system.

for another, genetic modification will not cause restructuring of the muscles. you're muscels will still behave the same, the only difference would be some internal chemistry and the DNA contained within.

like i said, gene therapies won't influence this.

then would u know what might???

as far as i can tell you have two options, keep trying till you find an exercise that works or get an implant.

but remember that the implants will look weird once you get older and your muscle mass starts to decline.

when u say implant, what type of implant do you mean??

not really. you either find a way to build up the muscle that isn't building up or you stick something in there to make it look like it is. the implant will never look as natural as real muscle though.

but you should probably ask the question, does it really matter? it seems a rather minor aesthetic issue.

To me it does matter ive been putting alot of effort into this and im seeing no results and the only other alternative is for something drastic to be done, i dont feel normal with this condition, it is so different and its really getting me down,
