Widdekind Posted December 30, 2010 Posted December 30, 2010 When large asteroids collide, wouldn't they emit (some) Gravity Wave radiation "ripples" through spacetime ? When large stars Supernova, wouldn't they also emit such "spacetime sound-waves" ?? Couldn't GW detectors be used, to "hear" the "crashings" of asteroids & comets, in the asteroid belt (say), or the "snap crackle pop" of distant SNs ?? In the cold darkness of space, a "good pair of ears" (GW detectors) could conceivably be beneficial.
alpha2cen Posted December 30, 2010 Posted December 30, 2010 (edited) Till now there have been no report about gravity wave detection by using gravity wave detector. Only known materials are obtained from observed result through the telescope. Edited December 30, 2010 by alpha2cen
swansont Posted December 30, 2010 Posted December 30, 2010 That's basically what gravity-wave detectors are trying to measure.
